IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG SINCE I UPDATED!
Thursday, October 14, 2004 - Clockwork

Today there's a new review of Edna O'Brien's play Triptych, starring Ally Sheedy and Margaret Colin. There's more about the play here.

On September 30th, Oxygen aired a new drama starring Ally called Life on the Line.

Also, her new film Shooting Livien recently completed production.

In June she performed in the Off-Broadway play The Triple Happiness.

There are several nice photos of Ally on GettyImages.com and SteveGranitz.com.

Ally's episode of VH1's "Strange Frequency" is called "Daydream Believer." Her character's reality keeps switching between a Janis Joplin-style rock singer and a suburban housewife. NEW FASTER CONNECTION!
Thursday, March 22, 2001 - Clockwork
I apologize for the site being down the last couple of weeks. I was moving house and it took forever to get a new DSL line installed!

But the good news is: the site is on a much faster connection now! All of you high-bandwidth users should now see quicker download times. Also, I'll now be able to put up more video clips!

STUFF!
Friday, February 09, 2001 - Clockwork
It appears that the TNT Movie The Warden has been postponed until sometime in Summer. I think a protest is in order.

The good news though is that Ally has a small role in Michael Almereyda's upcoming film Happy Here and Now alongside David Arquette, Gloria Reuben, Shalom Harlow and Clarence Williams III. Woohoo!

Here's a nice little "Where are they now?" write-up about the cast of The Breakfast Club.

It looks like Autumn Heart is available for rental at Blockbuster, but isn't yet available for purchase anywhere that I've found.

OZ AND THE WARDEN
Monday, January 08, 2001 - Clockwork
Drat! I just found out that the showing of The Warden on TNT has been postponed. I have no idea when it will appear. :(

If you missed her appearance on HBO's Oz, it is scheduled to show again tomorrow, January 9th, at 11:00pm PST. (Thanks Nanie!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
Monday, January 01, 2001 - Clockwork
Mark your calendars for January 12th! That's when Ally's new film The Warden is set to premiere on TNT! (Not the 15th as listed below.)

Ally's film Highball is out on DVD! She only has a few minutes of screen time, but they are a lot of fun to watch! She plays herself! The film itself is kind of nifty. It is a nice little low-budget production which takes place almost entirely inside of an apartment with only a small cast of interesting characters. I find it inspiring that this type of film can still be made and get released into the world! It's all about the writing, baby!

ALLY'S TOP TEN ANSWERS ARE HERE!
Thursday, October 26, 2000 - Clockwork
We just got back Ally's Answers to the Top Ten Fan-Submitted Questions!

PATIENTLY WAITING
Monday, September 25, 2000 - Clockwork
We're still patiently awaiting the answers to the Top Ten Questions for Ally here at the Pages. Ally's publicist was kind enough to send word today that they haven't been forgotten, and that he saw her just last week at the Tenth Annual Gotham Awards where she was a judge!

Her publicist also reported that Ally's TNT Pilot The Warden is scheduled to air on January 15th, and that her appearance in HBO's Oz will also occur this January. Ally has apparently been working out and looks quite a bit different than she did in High Art.

Oh, I noticed that the IMDB put up some new photos of Ally!

Some of you might be interested to know about an incredible DVD service I started using called NetFlix. They mail you 3 DVDs at a time for $20/month, and each time you mail one back they send another! And this is the best part: there are never any late fees! You can hold on to the films and watch them whenever you want. They have all 4 of Ally's films on DVD, and will have Highball as soon as it releases next month.

STAGE AND WRITING WORKS ADDED
Thursday, September 14, 2000 - Clockwork
I just put up both Works/Stage and Works/Writings sections! I'm still waiting to get the questions back from Ally. I'll be sending them out to the Mailing List as soon as I get them, and posting them to the web a little while after.

TOP TEN QUESTIONS SUBMITTED TO ALLY
Sunday, August 27, 2000 - Clockwork
Thank you for all of your questions! It was difficult to do, but the 27 submissions were reduced to a list of ten questions. They have been submitted to Ally, and will hopefully receive a response within the next few days!

WHY WRITE A REVIEW?
Friday, August 18, 2000 - Clockwork
You are passing up a chance to have your words immortalized for very little effort! Do you realize that this site will live on longer than you will? Oh yes, this is no fly-by-night operation here. This is history-making in progress!

So, write some film reviews! Be thoughtful, and share your words with future generations! To write a review, go to the film section , select the film you want to review, then click Read Reviews. At the bottom of the Reviews page you can type in your own review!

I just watched WarGames again yesterday, and what a great film that is! I had remembered all of the cheesy cliches, like the synthesized voice, and super-intelligence of the computer, but it is quite a powerful little film that withstands the test of time very well. We're still dealing with some of the issues it raises. Everyone's acting is superb. I was really impressed by how much like real hackers his geeky friends were. (I happen to know quite a few.) I developed an uncontrollable giggle as Matthew Broderick shoved an 8-inch Elephant Brand floppy into that massive drive!

It also features a very young Michael Madsen of all people! Matthew Broderick's sheepishness is at an all-time high. Most of the camera and plot work is very solid through-out. Despite its age, it has very timeless elements. Ally is one of them, and bubbles over with personality!

TEN QUESTIONS FOR ALLY - DEADLINE
Wednesday, August 16, 2000 - Clockwork
I'm really happy with all of the great questions you folks have come up with! But, it's time to set a deadline, so here goes:

All Top Ten Questions have to be submitted by midnight August 27th!

My friends and I will be pouring over the questions and picking the ten we consider best. "Best" being a value based on a number of factors like "Has it been asked before?", "Will it give us a new perspective on Ally?", and "Will she think well of us if we ask that?". It will be a tough job from just looking at the questions that exist right now, but we want to present Ally with the best possible list we can!

I just got a copy of both of Ally's books, and will have excerpts and pictures up shortly. Also, I'm putting together clips from some of her films! Thanks for all of the support you have given me! It makes maintaining this site a joy!

(Shameless Plug) Lately, I've been running around trying to make ends meet, and in my quest for sustained livelihood have come upon a novel solution! I opened up an online Japanese Candy Store! Explore a whole new world of confectionary delights at Japan Candy.com!

If you have yet to try Japanese candy, I recommend starting out with a couple of boxes of Chocolate Pocky and some Botan Rice Candy (my personal favorite!) They're both guaranteed to bring wonder to the mouth of a new taster! :)

SITE UPDATE
Wednesday, August 02, 2000 - Clockwork
Just a quick note to let you know what has been updated on the site:
  • Greatly decreased the filesize of several pages! Modem users rejoice!
  • The Appearances section now auto-updates daily with upcoming Ally Television appearances!
  • Several bugs have been fixed.
  • Added QuickTime support for video clips to the Work/Film section. Currently only High Art and Sugar Town have clips.
  • Finally figured out how to maintain the aspect ratio of Flash pages as I originally intended.
  • The Works/Film page now retrieves results much faster.

I still have a lot more to add!

  • IMPROVED SITE LAUNCHED
    Saturday, July 22, 2000 - Clockwork
Well, after many many hours of hard work, we all have a nice new Ally Sheedy Pages to enjoy! I hope you like the new look and feel, and didn't have too much trouble getting the Flash plugin installed. Please send Feedback and let me know how your transition went!

A couple of the sections are still finished, and there are no doubt a few bugs here and there that will need to be stamped out, but overall it is looking to be in pretty good shape! I will be adding quite a few more photos in coming days, and if you're wondering where the clips are, you'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for visiting! There's more to come!

    NO SITE UPDATE YET
    Monday, July 17, 2000 - Clockwork
I've been working very dilligently, but unfortunately the site won't be getting updated for a couple more days still. I overcame a massive obstacle in its design, and the rest should be mostly downhill. Shouldn't be too much longer now!

SITE CHANGE UPDATE, TOP TEN QUESTIONS, AND ONLY THE LONELY
    Friday, July 14, 2000 - Clockwork
I'm hoping to have most of the new site completed over the weekend, with a change-over late Sunday night! It's coming together really well so far, and I think you will all find it quite magical.

One of the new features I'm really excited about is called Top Ten Questions for Ally in the new Interview section! Ally has agreed to answer the best 10 questions we can put together, so get to work crafting them! There will be a page to submit them to as soon as we switch over to the new site. We will be submitting them in about a month.

I have to confess I hadn't seen Only the Lonely until this week. Ally's role as Theresa, the Funeral Parlor Beautician, is now one of my favorites! She did a really good job playing the shy introvert.

I miss John Candy. At least we still have his films!

MAJOR SITE REDESIGN IN THE WORKS
    Wednesday, July 12, 2000 - Clockwork
I've been really busy overhauling the site with a new look and feel consisting of about 80% Macromedia Flash, with lots of new content!

I hope to have it mostly finished in the next couple of days! Stay tuned!

    ALLY SHEEDY IN PARADE MAGAZINE
    Tuesday, June 20, 2000 - Clockwork
As promised, here's the June 11th Parade Magazine article featuring Ally Sheedy! It is 900k in size, but worth every byte! It includes a picture of Ally as The Warden. Check it out:

What It Takes To Be A Survivor

    OZ AND THE WARDEN
    Tuesday, June 20, 2000 - Clockwork
Ally plays a TV documentary producer who is making a documentary about the brutal prison that is the setting for HBO's Oz. The episode is scheduled to appear sometime in January 2001!

Also, her starring role in TNT's The Warden won't be shown until sometime next year.

I found a copy of her Parade Magazine article! I will scan and post it tonight!

    WHICH DAY WAS THAT, EXACTLY?
    Friday, June 16, 2000 - Clockwork
There was some confusion about whether or not Ally's birthday was on the 12th or 13th of June. I have seen it listed both ways in lots of different places, so I thought it best to ask her publicist for the truth. He, in turn, asked Ally.

So, to set the record straight, from Ally herself:
Ally Sheedy was born June 13th, 1962!

    OZ AND PARADE MAGAZINE
    Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - Clockwork
I just got word that Ally is going to appear in an episode of HBO's Oz! I'll try to find more details. Also, she was featured in last Sunday's Parade Magazine! Once I find a copy, I'll have more info.

    ALLY'S BIRTHDAY!
    Tuesday, June 13, 2000 - Clockwork
Today is Ally's birthday! Happy Birthday, Ally!

I've been incredibly busy at work lately finishing up a product cycle, so I haven't had the time to dig up news and improve the site. Once things settle back down to a "normal" pace I'll get the Works section totally redone!

Has anyone seen Ally's film Homeroom? If you can track down a copy of this rarity, please let me know!

    OFFICIAL NEWS!
    Monday, May 15, 2000 - Clockwork
Some official news today from Ally's publicist:

Ally's Montreal-filmed TV pilot The Warden has completed shooting and is set to air on TNT sometime in October. Based on a British series called The Governor (which starred Janet McTeer) and was written by Lynda LaPlante (Prime Suspect). LaPlante serves as executive producer on the The Warden.  The cast also includes Ron Rifkin, Lindsay Crouse and Sam Robards and the director is Stephen Gyllenhaal (Losing Isaiah). Ally plays the first female warden in an all-male, maximum-security prison.

Ally had an incredible time doing the film and is very excited about it. She is happily back in New York for the summer with her husband and their daughter.

Her independent film, The Autumn Heart will have a limited release this summer from Arrow Entertainment. They plan to release it in Boston in August and then will decide how far they will expand the run.

Sadly, there's still no distribution yet for I'll Take You There, which is a wonderful film, although it is a real crowd-pleaser and won a prize at Aspen.

There will be a feature story on Ally in early June in Parade magazine.

    FLASH DETECTION
    Friday, April 28, 2000 - Clockwork
I was down in California the last ten days visiting family, so I apologize for the lack of updates.  If you were having trouble accessing the menu bar at left, it was due to the switch to Macromedia Flash.  I just implemented a Flash4 detection method which seems to be doing the trick!  If you don't have Flash4 installed, it will give you the old HTML menu.  I'll be doing more with Flash in the future, so I highly recommend that you get the plugin!

If you live in New York, Ally will be starring in the stalker-comedy I'll Take You There by director Adrienne Shelly tomorrow at the Worldwide (340 West 50th Street) as part of the Gen Art Film festival.  I haven't seen it yet, but the folks on IMDB seem to like it!

    MACROMEDIA FLASH
    Saturday, April 15, 2000 - Clockwork
I added some Macromedia Flash content to the navigation bar.  I hope you don't mind. I also got rid of the rickety discussion board and implemented a much faster Guestbook!

    MONTREAL GAZETTE ARTICLE
    Monday, April 10, 2000 - Clockwork
The Montreal Gazette ran a tasty little paragraph in their paper today entitled "Ally Sheedy is The Warden":

"Former brat-packer Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club) is in town filming the TV movie The Warden, alongside Ron Rifkin from the Boiler Room. Sheedy plays a female prison warden in an all male maximum security prison. Much of the film was shot at Laval's decrepit St. Vincent de Paul Penitentiary, which was also used in Nuremberg."

Sounds like the kind of setting that would make Judy Tenuta proud!  Go, Ally, go!

    NEW SERVER!
    Friday, April 07, 2000 - Clockwork
The site is now on a more powerful server!  Things load much quicker now, and with the additional performance I will be able to do a lot more with these pages!

    INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS 2000
    Tuesday, March 28, 2000 - Clockwork
In case you missed the live cybercast of the Independent Spirit Awards, it is being re-broadcast via the above links!  Ally was to present Best Female Lead, which she won last year, but unfortunately was unable to make an appearance.  However, don't let that sway you too much from watching the show!  Jennifer Tilly does a fine job of hosting, and it's wonderful watching her squirm as the audience doesn't laugh at her jokes!

Ally does appear briefly in a a clip from Sugar Town which was nominated for Best Feature toward the end of the show.  There is also a quick interview with her in which she describes her role in the film.

    The Independent Spirit Awards 2000
    56k
        128k    300k

I'll spare you my rant about how superior the ISA awards are to The Oscars.  If you want a taste, Drew from Script-o-Rama has it about right in his quick and concise rant on the subject.

    THE WARDEN
    Saturday, March 25, 2000 - Clockwork
Ally is currently working on a new pilot for TNT called The Warden!

ALLY TO PRESENT AT NEXT SPIRIT AWARDS
    Friday, March 17, 2000 - Clockwork
On March 25th, Ally Sheedy will be presenting at the 15th annual IFP/West Independent Film Awards in Santa Monica!  Ally won Best Female Lead last year for her role in High Art! This event was incredibly important for her as it helped separate her from The Breakfast Club in the minds of people and film companies.

Rather than rant on and on about how wonderful this was myself (and never do it justice), here's a RealVideo of the awards!  The Best Female Lead award begins about 1:22:20 into it..  Her moving reception speech says it all!

    AUTUMN HEART
    Thursday, March 16, 2000 - Clockwork
Ally's latest movie The Autumn Heart was recently purchased by Arrow Entertainment and will be appearing in theaters this August!

    NEW SITE!
    Friday, March 10, 2000 - Clockwork
This is the new home of The Ally Sheedy Pages!  Big Thanks go out to Snake Pliskin for maintaining the site since June of 1997! That's about 30 Internet Years! I hope you all like the new format; I will be adding quite a bit more to the site as time goes by.
